Probably the best rendition of "Hopes and Dreams" yet:

So, I've already revealed that Klonoa in the rebooted universe will be a reincarnation of Asriel, who existed a thousand years before when the (true pacifist) events of Undertale happened. I'm going to adapt the "Frisk gives up his soul to merge with Asriel's" idea here and then throw in the mythos of the Dream Traveler and the Dreamer of Light. Sometime after Asriel's merging with Frisk, the god/deity/whatever of the dream dimension senses that nightmares are overwhelming the dimension. Thus, he/it needed someone with strong power and determination to be the chosen one, and that someone was Asriel.

So Asriel accepts his newfound destiny and starts vanquishing the nightmares, becomes known to the dream worlds as the Dream Traveler and as the Dreamer of Light due to his white fur and white aura when he uses his power, and over time, he gains a fondness for wind magic. So much that he starts calling his merged soul the Soul of the Wind.

Eventually, Asriel dies, though not to age, but as a sacrifice to save a dream world from this tough-to-defeat nightmare. His legend becomes known, etc etc. All but his name, which gets lost from history.

So goat bro's body may have died, but not his soul. Refusing to disappear due to its sheer power and determination, it reincarnates a thousand years later, albeit with its memories locked away...

And the only way for Klonoa to unlock it is through sheer desperation, and maybe a little battle with a remnant of Asriel's corrupted dark self in the dream world of Lunatea...
